I received my first piece of pink depression glass from my Mamaw, and it was a beautiful and ornate bowl she found in her kitchen while cleaning out her cupboards. Since that time, I have become a collector and have scooped up many pieces, mostly from my favorite local antique stores! I’ve gathered bowls, plates, a cream and sugar set and taper candle holders. No piece is alike – all different sizes and patterns. They are so fun, pretty and delicate! Instead of just simply displaying my collection, I use them to hold my favorite and everyday pieces of jewelry!
My creamer dish is perfect for earrings, which I just hang on the rim – they are easy to find and stay untangled! I use the sugar bowl for my rings.
It’s tempting to put pretty things behind glass, especially when you have little ones. I found a second-hand table on a neighborhood sale site, and it’s the perfect size for several of my pink depression glass items. I keep it in our bedroom, away from little hands (for the most part).
I even use one of my plates to hold a couple of my favorite perfume bottles:
What pretty little things are you hiding behind glass, or in your closets and cupboards? Whip those suckers out and find a good way to put them to work, even if it’s not conventional! Would you have ever thought to use a cream and sugar set to hold jewelry? Probably not the first thing that comes to mind, but man does it look nice! Useful and unique items that are also easy on the eyes is a win-win!
My mom is my bestie and, inevitably, 99.9% of the time when we are out in public together and meet someone new, they stare in disbelief at the fact that she is old enough to have a grown child. She looks younger than she is, because she has great skin. Fortunately for me, I inherited that gene, as well! Throughout my life, I have put minimal effort into caring for my skin. A little facial scrub in the shower, a toner-soaked cotton ball that I quickly swabbed on my t-zone, a dab of moisturizer and I was on my way. As I’ve gotten older and birthed two boys (one of whom is very mischievous, and has aged me about ten years in his short and very sweet three years of life), I have noticed that perhaps a little under-eye cream and intensive moisturizer really wouldn’t hurt.
Recently, I have stumbled upon a complete game changer: rosewater toning mist. More specifically, while meandering through the aisles of Target, I came across a bottle of S.W. Basics Rosewater Spray. I was drawn to the fact that it only has 1 ingredient: 100% organic rosewater. The bottle also states that it’s “like an instant spa day” and, even though I can’t quite remember what a spa is, it sounded like something I wanted in my life.
The absolute best thing about this product is the pump that allows you to spritz rosewater on your skin wherever and whenever you’d like. The first time I did this, it was a magical experience: a unicorn flew overhead, glitter rained down (took forever to comb out of my hair and sweep off my floors), and angels sang. The rosewater was SO cooling and felt amazing. It didn’t leave any kind of gross residue, and made my face soft and glowing.
I’ve always been drawn to rosewater products, just because I love the delicate smell and enjoy using something so natural on my skin. This particular type of rosewater boasts to be a “gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and refresher” and also “sets make-up and gives your complexion a rose-scented glow” – it really does all of those things! I’ve also heard rosewater can be anti-inflammatory and great for fine lines and other annoying skin issues that come with aging. I’ve even heard that it’s great for eczema!
